Description

Kentucky State Police Computer Technologies Branch is seeking one individual to work on the Help Desk as an Information Technology Associate. The Kentucky State Police Help Desk provides Information Technology phone support for Law Enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth. The position available will shift vary, but will primarily work 1st shift. Shift premiums of 10% for 2nd shift and 15% for 3rd shift will be available.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Main responsibility is to be the first contact for incoming help desk calls. Creates tickets and serves as Help Desk and resource person for 123 Law Information Network of Kentucky (LINK) agencies and 60 Integrated Criminal Apprehension Program (ICAP) agencies.
  • Performs other standard help desk and operational functions including: entering, executing, and monitoring production jobs.
  • Collects data for higher tier support personnel from assigned systems (KyOPS and custom systems).
  • Assists with and maintains the LINK, Law Enforcement Teleprocessing Network, and ICAP network.
  • Performs standard paperwork as required. Assists supervisor in developing documentation procedures and forms. Assists in writing technical documentation and user manuals.
  • Learns to manage system service providers with routine maintenance issues, which includes providing technical assistance to other information systems staff.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned or needed by the agency.

  • Basic computer, and software skills
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to receive training and retain new knowledge
  • Ability to be professional and courteous

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of server administration, desktop services, storage administration, database services, system support, production support, or network support experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
